2 Nov 2009The greatest leaps in discovering your potential can actually begin with recognising your repetitive dialogues such as – I can’t, I never, I don’t like.
These convincing patterns of speech are often those we attach to as truths and accept without challenge.
On the weekend I found myself playing around with Microsoft Office Publisher exploring ways to create a newsletter. It was a suggestion from a colleague that it was quite an achievable task that captured my attention long enough to have me at least try to see.
Surprisingly that morning I was creating, exploring and adjusting using the tools in a way I had never experienced before. My dialogue had previously been – I can’t use these programs, they are too complex to use, I don’t like computers, I always have difficulty with these types of things – but somehow I bypassed the usual ‘taunt’ and just moved into my body and did it.
Stumbling upon this breakthrough has inspired and motivated me to explore the validity of other dialogues I have created. (I have even found myself now engaging mediums of Twitter and Face book with an enthusiasm and respect for their use in uniting and sharing.)
This could be another powerful tool in the creation of things for your own life where you actually ‘give things a go’ to help decide whether you can, can’t, like or don’t like.
So perhaps use this as an invitation to ‘leap into your body’ and give something a go without your mind’s opinion and distraction.
You could use this approach to something already at the forefront of your attention (perhaps in relation to your nutrition, exercise, body, relationships, work) and ‘stumble’ upon your own ongoing realisations.
Just a thought…
