Keeping on track

In: Life Issues

31 Jan 2010

As I contributed to one of the 100 Way actions, I realised how much commitment was actually involved.

Although each action in itself is relatively small the effort to remember and the endurance to keep it up over 100 days is a real challenge.

I began to wonder what was keeping me on track with such commitments.

There were a few things that stood out.

Firstly, before I took on the challenge I did have a sense of it being possible to achieve.

I scanned to determine whether my current life would ‘sit’ with this extra effort.

I also checked that I really wanted to do it and that my intention and reasons  were honourable.

I knew this decision would not negatively impact anyone in fact would benefit myself and others.

Another significant factor was letting others know of my intention. I believe this took courage but was also valuable because

  • It moved my thoughts and intention, to words and creation.
  • It confirmed my intention to commit.
  • It showed I was prepared to give it a go – and accept the consequences of my own action or non action.
  • It now keeps me on the general path in times when I veer off temporarily.

So while I may miss out on some days (for a range of reasons) I am still on the path.

I can acknowledge the reward is being on the path despite the shape that path takes.

So even if there are large gaps between attempts, there are still some posts of significance…

So perhaps take some time to acknowledge your own significant ‘posts’ in your life with things you may have attempted in the past…. even though actions may be few and far between, appreciate there are at least posts!

Enjoy your fortnight
