Try something new

Isn’t it amazing that people can be in the same situation or environment and interpret and perceive things so differently?

The impact of your current state, your thoughts and feelings, play such a role in how you receive what is presented to you.

Over the last 18 months, I have taken the opportunity to experience things I once would not have conceived in my repertoire of things to try. I have worked to eliminate the sense of fear for the future, for example, the ‘what if….’ and the attachment of the past, for example ‘I can’t…’, and this has enabled me to engage in experiences and enjoy the sensation for what it actually is. My interpretations and perceptions have certainly been altered and I can now see how, living on the same planet, we experience things very differently from each other.

I’ll give you a small example; my past thoughts on riding as a pillion passenger on a scooter or motor bike were of the danger and my future fears were of all the negative possibilities of what could happen. While attending a wedding in Koh Samui Thailand, I took the opportunity to remove the past story and future fear and decided to experience a scenic tour of the island as a passenger of my husband’s scooter. How fortunate I was, as together with my son we shared a day never to forget.

I suppose it is worthwhile asking yourself, how are you experiencing life? Your feelings, emotions, thoughts and general state are indicators of how you are living your life. Take the time to notice what is happening for you.

It may also be worthwhile noting, that how you wish to experience life, is available to you. Don’t be fooled to think you need specific things in the outside world to bring you what is required. Generally what you need is already there in front of you, waiting for you take notice and enjoy.

If you are interested in exploring ways to experience ‘living in the now’, a must read is ‘Practicing The Power of Now’ Essential Teachings, Meditations, and Exercises from The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle.

Another short unfolding from my own life experience:
Enjoy yourself

Often people say, ‘you just have to enjoy yourself in this life’.

What does this mean?

It’s not that you have to keep finding things to entertain you.

It’s not what you do, but how you do it, your attitude and feelings when you are doing it.

When you are doing that which aligns with your values and mission for life, take the time to notice that it actually feels great.

You can then really enjoy your life, no matter where you are.
