12 Dec 2008We often find ourselves waiting for something in the future that will bring us what we want.
You can actually find what you want in what you have today.
A different job, car, way of life, habits, relationship…
What is it about that ‘different’…?
What will it bring what will you have or be?
Then ask yourself…
What will this then bring what will you have or be?
Then ask yourself…
What will this then bring what will you have or be?
When you are able to identify the bottom line of what you want, ask how can you find this in what you have today?
You may be able to experience that in your current situation.
For example: You want a new job…
It will bring you more of what you want…
You want more opportunity for creativity and variety…
You will be much happier and satisfied when you can experience this…
You will be more yourself…
So how could you achieve this in your current job?
You could… (find ways to be creative)
You could ask… (if there are new or different possibilities within the job)
You could be… (open to doing things differently)
You could do… (things in ways that align with your needs and values)
You could say… (this is what I would like to add to this job experience)
For example: You want a new relationship…
You want to leave the current relationship…
You want less stress and arguments…
You want peace and good communication…
You will be happier…
So how could you achieve this in your current relationship?
You could… (choose not to respond when emotional and listen more to others)
You could ask… (to discuss the things that are bothering you)
You could be… (open and honest with your needs)
You could do… (something with love and kindness to build trust)
You could say… (I’m keen to find a better way)
When we identify what is at the core, there is a way to access that right now rather than search for it ‘out there’.
We may need to seek support or remove a ‘stubborn streak’ or be willing to implement some simple changes where we can communicate and position ourselves for more of what we want.
When we take responsibility for aligning our own actions with what we need and value, the domino effect of change begins.
How often do we just ‘sit on’ what we don’t like giving only ‘obscure’ clues that there is some disharmony?
When we ‘take charge’ in this way, we may find our current situation looks a bit brighter than we had previously thought.
It brings an opportunity for greater insights into our own self as well as a greater chance of bringing life to our situations.
It’s worth a try…
